Inventory Planner
The Subscription inventory planner shows how many units of each product your upcoming subscription renewals need, next to how many you have in stock. Reviewing it ahead of time lets you restock early and avoid renewals that fail or skip because a product is out of stock.

Viewing upcoming demand
The table has one row per subscribed product variant:
- Product title, Variant title and Variant SKU
- Contracts: how many active subscriptions include it. Click the number to see which subscriptions they are.
- Quantity required: the units needed for renewals in the selected period.
- Current quantity: the stock you have now, so you can compare it with demand.
A row is highlighted in red when that variant tracks inventory, is not set to continue selling when out of stock, and has less stock than the renewals need. Those are the renewals at risk.
On stores with many subscriptions the planner can take a minute or two to load.
Adjusting the date range
Use the date button (it starts at Next 7 days) to choose Today, Tomorrow, Next 7 days, Next 30 days, Next 90 days or Next 365 days, or pick your own dates on the calendar and click Apply. The planner recalculates how many renewals fall within that window, so you can plan weeks or months ahead.
Which subscriptions are counted
Only active subscriptions are counted. Paused, failed and cancelled ones are left out, because they won't renew unless someone reactivates them. Only renewals that fall inside the chosen date range count, so a subscription that renews every 3 months may not appear in the next 7 days.
This is why the active number here can be lower than Subscription growth on the Analytics page, which also counts paused subscriptions. For stock planning, use the planner's numbers.
Why this matters
Keeping your store stocked means subscription orders are billed and fulfilled on time. How renewals behave when something is out of stock is set in Out of Stock Settings.
Common questions
Why is the active count on Analytics higher than in the inventory planner?
Analytics' Subscription growth counts active and paused subscriptions; the planner counts active subscriptions only, and only the ones renewing in the chosen dates. To see who is paused, filter the Subscriptions list by Status Paused.
Should I keep Shopify inventory tracking on for subscription products?
That is your choice. If you can always supply a product, turn on Continue selling when out of stock for it in Shopify so renewals are not held back by a stock count of zero. See Out of stock handling.
Can I download the planner?
Not from this page. To work with the data in a spreadsheet, export your subscriptions; the CSV has each subscription's products, quantities, status and next billing date.
