Applying subscriptions to specific products and collections
You decide which products can be bought on subscription, or with a bundle deal, by choosing what each offer Applies to. This guide covers the three choices (All products, Specific collections, Specific products, with variants), how Shopify bundle products are handled, keeping automated collections in step, and what to check when the widget shows up on the wrong products.

Where products are assigned
Each offer has an Applies to setting that controls which products show its subscription options and bundle options.
- Go to Supr Bundles & Subscriptions > Offers.
- Open the offer (or click Create offer).
- In the Offer details card, under Applies to, choose All products, Specific collections or Specific products.
- For collections or products, click Browse (or the search field) and pick them in Shopify's picker.
- Click Save.
While the save is attaching new products, their rows say Not set up for subscriptions yet. Save to apply it. The offer must also be Published to show on your store (a Draft offer is on no products).
All products
The offer applies to every product in your store, now and in the future. New products you add later are covered automatically. Best for stores where everything is sold the same way.
Specific collections
Choose one or more collections, and every product in them is covered. Each collection's row shows how many products it has.
An offer works from the list of products that were in the collection the last time it was saved or synced. It needs a fixed list, because the subscription and the bundle discount cannot look a collection up while a customer is shopping.
- Manual collections stay in step on their own. Add or remove a product and the offer follows.
- Automated (smart) collections are marked with an Automated collection badge. They re-run their rules in the background whenever you edit a product, change its price, or it goes in or out of stock. Shopify does not reliably tell apps when that happens, so these offers can quietly fall behind.
Keeping an automated collection in step
When an offer targets an automated collection, the offer editor shows an Automated collections box just under the collection list, with a Sync now button. Clicking it re-reads the collection and brings the offer up to date straight away.
- Go to Supr Bundles & Subscriptions > Offers and open the offer.
- In the Offer details card, find the Automated collections box under the list of collections.
- Click Sync now.
The box tells you when the offer was last synced, and after a sync it says what changed, for example "Synced. 3 products added." or "Synced. This offer already covered the right products." If a bundle discount still cannot apply, it says why, for example because the collection is empty or no longer exists.
Refreshing every collection offer at once. If you have bundle offers that target collections, the Offers list also shows a Collection products card with a Refresh button, which refreshes all of them in one go. If a collection cannot be read, the card warns Some offers are not discounting and names the offer and the reason: the collection no longer exists, has too many products, or is empty.
Specific products and variants
Pick individual products by hand. Best for a curated selection.
- To sell only some variants of a product (for example only the 250g size), untick the other variants in the picker, or click the variant count on the product's row (for example 2/3 variants) and choose there.
- To stop selling past-edition or discontinued variants, untick them the same way and save.
- To remove a product, click the X on its row.
- A product with Shopify's Only sell this product as a subscription setting shows a Subscription-only badge.
Switching between the three choices
- Switching between Specific products and Specific collections empties the list, because the two cannot be mixed. Pick your products or collections again before you save.
- Switching to All products and back keeps the list you had.
- If you save an offer with nothing picked, it shows This offer applies to nothing and does not appear anywhere on your store.
Shopify bundle products
A Shopify bundle product (one built out of other products with Shopify's own bundles feature, or an app like Shopify Bundles) is priced and fulfilled through its component products. A subscription only applies to the bundle while every one of those components is in the same offer, so a bundle on its own cannot be subscribed to.
The offer editor takes care of this:
- Add a bundle product and its component products come with it. The bundle gets a Bundle badge, and each component gets a Bundle component badge and a line saying which bundle needs it.
- If components are missing (an offer built before this was automatic, or a bundle you have since changed in Shopify), a warning appears above the list with an Add component products button that fixes it in one click.
- Removing a component asks you to confirm first (Remove anyway), because customers can no longer subscribe to that bundle without it. It is not added back automatically: pick it again from Browse if you change your mind.
Component products are in the offer for the bundle's sake, not to be sold on their own, so the subscription widget stays hidden on a component's own product page. If you do want a component sold on subscription by itself, add it to another offer: selling a product directly always wins, and the widget comes back on that product's page.
Good to know
- A product can belong to several offers. It then shows the subscription options of each of them, which is the usual reason for options appearing twice. See A product in more than one offer.
- To show different subscription options or bundles on different products, make one offer per product group rather than one offer on All products.
- Changing an offer's products only changes where the widget shows from now on. Existing subscriptions are not affected by adding or removing products or variants.
- To make a product subscription-only (remove the one-time option), see How to remove the one-time purchase option for a product.
Common questions
How do I add products to a subscription offer?
Open the offer in Offers, choose Specific products under Applies to, click Browse, pick the products and click Save. Or choose All products or Specific collections.
Why is the subscription showing on products I did not add?
Another setting covers them: this offer (or another offer) is on All products, or on a collection that contains them. Check Applies to on each of your offers. For automated collections, click Sync now after the collection changes.
The widget is not showing on products I just added to an automated collection.
Open the offer and click Sync now in the Automated collections box (save any edits first).
My subscription keeps disappearing from products and I have to re-add them.
Check that nobody switched Applies to between Specific products and Specific collections, which empties the list. For a stable setup, use All products or a collection. If a collection keeps dropping out of the offer, pick its products under Specific products instead and contact support so we can look at the collection.
Can I apply an offer to all my products at once?
Yes: choose All products. It also covers products you add later.
How do I stop selling one variant, like a past edition, on subscription?
Click the variant count on the product's row (for example 3/3 variants), untick that variant and save. Customers already subscribed to it keep their subscription.
I targeted a bundle offer at one variant but the discount shows on all variants.
Open the offer, check the variant count on that product's row, and save again. If it still shows on every variant, contact support with the offer and product names.
