How to Change/Translate Main Language Texts
Settings > Translations only translates your store's other languages. Your store's main language (its default language in Shopify) never appears there, which is why that column is greyed out and why a store with one language sees "Your store needs at least 2 languages to enable translations". Text in your main language is changed where it is set: on the offer, on the Design page, in the portal settings and in the email templates. This guide lists each place.
Use it whatever your main language is: English, French, German, Spanish, Portuguese or any other.

Where each text lives
- Offer name, subscription name, option names, descriptions and benefits: in Offers, on the offer.
- One-time purchase row name, description and benefits: in Offers, on the offer's One-time purchase row.
- Bundle heading, bundle option titles, subtitles and badges: in Offers, on the offer.
- Widget wording (headings, "One-time purchase", discount badges, "Save 15%", "/each", frequency suffixes, build-a-box and free gift texts): Design > Labels.
- Add to cart button text, the badge next to the product price, and the delivery date wording: Design > Add-on settings.
- Customer portal: Settings > Customer portal > Labels.
- Emails: Settings > Notifications > Customer notifications.
1. Offers and options
Everything you typed on an offer is edited on that offer.
- Go to Supr Bundles & Subscriptions > Offers and open the offer.
- Change any of these:
- Offer name, in Offer details. It is shown on the product page only if you switch on the Offer title row on the Design page.
- Subscription name, above the subscription options. It names the group of options, and it is the heading shown above them while Design > Labels > Section title says {{subscription_name}}, which is where it starts. Replace that with your own words to show those instead.
- For each subscription option, open it and change Option name (the option's name) and Description. Its benefit lines are under Benefits: under the option's main fields, each of its other settings is a small chip that names it and, once it is on, shows On or its value, and clicking Benefits opens it in the option's Additional settings.
- On the One-time purchase row, open it and change Name and Description, and click One-time benefits for its benefit lines. Leave Name empty to use the wording from Design > Labels.
- Bundle name, above the bundle options, is the heading shown above them. For each bundle option, change Title, Subtitle and Badge text.
- Click Save.
Option names belong to each offer, so there is no bulk edit: change them offer by offer. Wording that is the same on every product, such as "/ month" after the price, is set once in Design > Labels instead.
2. Widget labels
Wording the widget prints on every product is set once on the Design page and applies to every design, so switching design keeps your wording.
- Go to Supr Bundles & Subscriptions > Design.
- Scroll to the Labels card, under the settings.
- Change any field for the Subscription widget, the Bundle widget, Build-a-box, or Rewards and free gifts.
- Save with the save bar at the top of the page.
Keep any placeholders in curly brackets, such as {{ percentage_discount }} or {count}, and move them wherever your sentence needs them. Leave a field empty to go back to the built-in wording. The card only lists the fields your published design prints. See The Subscription Widget for the full list.
3. Add to cart button, badge and delivery date
A few texts sit around the widget rather than in it, so they are set in the Add-on settings card at the bottom of the Design page:
- Add to cart button text: the button label while a subscription is selected ("Add subscription to cart" by default). Switch it off to keep your theme's own button text.
- Subscription badge: the badge next to the product price.
- Subscription price details: the per delivery and unit price lines.
- Subscription limit reached text: the button text and checkout message when a subscription limit is reached.
- Date picker: the heading and the delivery date labels shown in the cart.
See Product Page Add-ons.
4. Customer portal
The process differs depending on which portal you use.
Customer accounts portal
The portal arrives already translated into your store's language, so there is nothing you have to set up. Reword it whenever you want your own wording rather than ours.
- Go to Settings > Customer portal.
- Click Labels on the Customer accounts page card.
- Use the search box, or open the group you want: the subscription list, the subscription page, delivery and billing frequency, plan and prices, banners, order history, products, bundles, addresses, payment method, skip and reschedule, pause and resume, cancel, retention offers, loyalty, and recommendations.
- Type your wording into any field and save with the save bar.
Each field shows our wording in grey. Leave a field empty and customers keep seeing that, so you only ever fill in the lines you want to change. This works whatever languages your store sells in, including a store with only one.
Some labels contain a placeholder in curly brackets, such as the date on a renewal line. Keep it in your text and put it wherever the sentence needs it.
To translate the portal into your store's other languages, use Settings > Translations > Subscription portal instead.
The text around our portal
Shopify draws the page frame our portal sits inside: the account navigation, the page chrome, and the More actions menu that appears when a subscription has several buttons. That wording is Shopify's rather than ours, so it is not in our Labels page, but you can still change it in Shopify admin:
- Your store's default language. Go to Online Store > Themes, click the ... button next to your theme, and choose Edit default theme content. The wording lives in the Customer accounts and Checkout & system tabs, and there is a search box at the top.
- Your other languages. Install Shopify's Translate & Adapt app and open the same Customer accounts and Checkout and system sections.
Shopify does not expose every one of its built-in strings there. If the one you want is not listed, Shopify support are the people who can help.
Legacy online store portal
- Go to Settings > Customer portal, where Legacy online store portal is selected.
- Click Customize on the Online store portal theme card.
- Open Labels and update the text fields as needed, then save.
5. Email notifications
Email wording has two parts: labels shared by every email, and each email's own subject and text.
A. Labels shared by every email
- Go to Settings > Notifications > Customer notifications.
- Click Customize email templates (top right).
- Update the common labels, such as Manage subscription, and save.
B. Each email's own text
- Go to Settings > Notifications > Customer notifications.
- Click the email you want to change.
- Edit Subject and Main text, then save.
Ready-made wording in your language
The app ships with built-in wording for its own labels (widget, bundle options, customer portal and emails) in 34 languages: Arabic, Bulgarian, Catalan, Chinese (Simplified), Chinese (Traditional), Croatian, Czech, Danish, Dutch, English, Estonian, Finnish, French, German, Greek, Hungarian, Icelandic, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Latvian, Lithuanian, Norwegian, Polish, Portuguese, Romanian, Russian, Serbian, Slovak, Slovenian, Spanish, Swedish, Turkish and Ukrainian.
To apply it, go to Settings > Translations, click Use language defaults at the top, then Apply defaults.
Important notes
- The greyed out column on the Translations page shows your main language text. It updates by itself after you change the text at its source.
- Save after each change: the save bar on the Design page, Save on the offer, the save bar on the portal Labels page.
- Changes to your main language text do not change the translations you have already made for other languages.
- Do not change your store's default language in Shopify just to reach these texts. Edit them at their source as described above.
Common questions
Why is the Translations page greyed out, or why does it say my store needs at least 2 languages?
The Translations page only translates additional languages. Your main language is edited at its source, listed in this guide.
My store is in French (or German, Spanish, Portuguese). How do I change "Subscribe & Save", "each" or "Save 15%"?
In Design > Labels: Section title, Per unit suffix or Price per unit, and Savings chip, percentage. A heading that shows your offer's own name comes from {{subscription_name}} in Section title: change the Subscription name on the offer, or replace the placeholder with your own words. Or click Use language defaults on the Translations page to get the built-in wording in your language first.
How do I change the button text "Add subscription to cart"?
In Design > Add-on settings > Add to cart button text.
Can I rename all my subscription options at once?
No. Option names belong to each offer, so edit them offer by offer. Wording shared by every product is in Design > Labels.
Where do I change the text in the subscription emails?
In Settings > Notifications > Customer notifications, after verifying your own sender address.
Is my language supported?
The app's own labels ship in the 34 languages listed above. For any other language, type your wording in the places listed in this guide.
