What happened to the widget editor
Your subscription widget and your bundle options used to be styled separately, design by design, each on a page of its own. Keeping them looking like one thing meant making every decision twice, and trying a different design meant starting over.
They now share one set of controls on the Design page. That is the unified widget experience. The menu item that used to be called Widget is now Design, and old links to a single design's editor open the Design page.
Nothing about how your widgets look changed on its own. Your settings are exactly where they were, and your product pages are unchanged until you decide to alter something.

Where everything moved to
Everything the old editor did is on the Design page, and it now applies to every design at once rather than to one:
- Choosing a design is in the Design section at the top: click Change next to the subscription widget or the bundle widget to open the gallery.
- Colours are in the Colours section. Pick one colour and the chosen option, the borders, the radio buttons and the badges all follow it.
- Roundness and border thickness are in the Shape section. The padding inside each option, the gap between the widgets and the space around the whole widget are in the Spacing section right below it.
- Per element styling, the colour, text size and text weight of each part, is in Elements, one row per part. Showing or hiding a part is there too.
- Custom CSS comes right after Elements (Custom CSS). It belongs to your store rather than to one design, so changing design keeps it.
- Wording is in the Labels card below the settings, including the delivery frequency suffixes, the price per unit and the option row, which used to be reachable only on certain designs.
- The subscription badge, add to cart button text, plan priority and the other add-ons are in the Add-on settings card further down the page.
Moving to the unified widget experience
If you styled your widgets on the old per-design editor, your store moves across the first time you save on the Design page. Until then nothing changes.
Because the Design page writes one value across every design at once, that first save applies your colours, roundness and spacing everywhere, rather than to the single design you happen to be looking at. That is the point of the page, and it is also a surprise the first time, so two things happen:
- We ask before that first save, and explain what it will do.
- Before anything is applied, we save a copy of how your widgets look right now.
What you get in return:
- One style, every design. Your colours, roundness and spacing apply to your subscription widget and your bundle options at once, so the two always match on your product page.
- Changing design is easy. Your look carries across all of them, so you can try a different design without restyling your store from scratch.
- Much more control. Every element has a row of its own with its colour, size and weight, there are four badge shapes to choose from, and all of your customer-facing wording sits in one place.
- See it before you save. A live preview of your real product page shows both widgets stacked the way a shopper sees them.
Your offers, your prices and your subscribers are not affected.
Restoring your previous design
This section is for stores that styled their widgets on the old per-design editor. If you installed after it closed, there is no previous design to go back to and no Restore previous design button on your Design page.
The copy taken before your first save does not expire. A Restore previous design button sits near the bottom of the Design page from then on. Click it and your widgets go back exactly as they were before you moved to the unified widget experience, however long ago that was.
You can restyle afterwards and restore again. The button stays, so restoring is never the last word.
Once you have saved changes of your own, a Reset to default button also appears in the Design section. It puts your colours, shape, spacing, elements, labels and Custom CSS back to the app's defaults in the preview, and keeps the designs you publish. Nothing changes on your store until you click Save, and Discard brings your own look back.
Fonts
There is no font picker, because the widget takes its typefaces from your theme so it always matches the page it sits on. Most themes set two: a heading font and a body font, both under your theme's typography settings.
- Titles use your theme's heading font: the bundle block title, each bundle option's title, and the name of each subscription option and of the one-time purchase row.
- Everything else uses your theme's body font: prices, descriptions, savings text, and the rest.
That is the same split your theme makes, so the widget reads as part of the product page rather than as a separate block. Themes that set only one font simply use it throughout. To change either face, change it in your theme's typography settings and the widget follows.
Font sizes and weights are yours to set per element in Elements, independently of the faces.
Custom designs built by our team
Two designs keep an editor of their own, because they are written in HTML, CSS and JavaScript rather than assembled from settings: the Custom subscription design and the Custom bundle layout.
If your store already runs one of them, nothing changes. It stays in the design gallery under Advanced, with a Customise link that opens its own editor (or a Contact support link if our team has not built it yet). Stores that do not use a Custom design no longer see it in the gallery.
If the built-in designs, Colours, Shape, Spacing, Elements and Custom CSS cannot give you the look you want, click Chat with an expert at the bottom of the Design page. Send us a screenshot or a link to a design you like and we will help you get there.
Common questions
Where is the Customize button for my widget?
There is no separate editor per design any more. Everything is on Design, and it applies to whichever design you publish.
Where did the Widget page go?
It is now called Design, in the app's menu.
I changed design and my colours stayed the same. Is that right?
Yes. Colours, shape, spacing, element styles, labels and custom CSS belong to your store, not to a design, so they carry across when you change design.
Can I get my old widget look back?
If your store styled its widgets on the old editor, click Restore previous design near the bottom of the Design page.
Can you build a custom widget design for me?
Start with the built-in designs and Custom CSS, then click Chat with an expert on the Design page and tell us what you are after.
