# How to add or remove a discount on an existing subscription

You can add, change or remove the discount on a subscription that is already running, for one customer at a time. The change applies from the next renewal and does not affect the offer or any other subscriber.

# Steps to Update the Discount

* In your Shopify admin, go to **Supr Bundles & Subscriptions > Subscriptions**, find the subscription and click to open it.
* On the subscription's page, click **Edit** in the top right corner.

* On the edit page, click **Edit discount** in the **Payment** card.

* In **Edit discounts**, choose the **Subscription discount** type (**No discount**, **Percentage**, **Amount off** or **Fixed price**) and enter the value. To remove the discount, choose **No discount**. You can also add or remove **Discount codes** here. Then click **Save**.

* Check the new prices, then click **Update contract** in the **Summary** card on the right to apply the change.

The customer receives the **Subscription contract updated** email unless you have turned it off under [Settings > Notifications](https://admin.shopify.com/apps/super-subscriptions/app/settings/notifications/customer).

### Which discount type to use

* **Percentage**: takes a percentage off every product.
* **Amount off**: takes a fixed amount off each product.
* **Fixed price**: sets **one price for every product** on the subscription. Only use it when the subscription has a single product: if you add another product later, it gets the same price.

### A discount for one product only

To discount a single product rather than the whole subscription, hover over its line in the products card and click the discount icon. Choose **Amount** or **Percentage**, enter the **Discount value** and a **Reason for discount** (the customer can see this reason), then click **Apply** and **Update contract**.

### Important Note
Any discount changes made here apply to this subscription only. To change the discount for future subscribers, edit the subscription option in your offer.

### Common questions

**Every product now shows the same price. Why?**
The subscription uses a **Fixed price** discount. Switch it to **Percentage** or **Amount off** in **Edit discount**.

**I changed the product or price, but the subscription still charges less. Why?**
The old subscription discount still applies to the new price. Change or remove it in **Edit discount**, then click **Update contract**.

**I removed the discount but the line still shows it, or the totals don't add up. What will the renewal charge?**
Contact support with the subscription number and we will check it for you.
